“I am now,” she said. Anne threw her arms around me and pressed me to her. She leaned back. “I do not know if I can ever get used to that,” she added, her voice pained.

“Took me some time, too,” I lied.

“Well then. I am glad I have you here to guide me through this.” Her blue eyes peered into my eyes. She bent over and placed her lips on mine. I didn’t move. Her tongue tickled my lips. She pulled her head back. “Sorry,” she said. “I am getting ahead of myself.”

“That is okay,” I replied, not sure if that was okay or not. Thankfully Jean was not here to see Anne’s tongue tickling my lips.
